One application. Multiple NT Government opportunities.
The Standardised Roles and Recruitment Program (SR&R) provides a streamlined and consistent process across Northern Territory Government agencies. It supports candidates to join a central talent pool for consideration for commonly recruited roles, making it easier to be matched with opportunities that align to their skills and experience.
About the program
Northern Territory Government (NTG) agencies regularly recruit for similar roles across different departments and work areas. SR&R brings these opportunities together through a coordinated campaign using a standardised job description and a consistent, merit-based assessment process.
Candidates submit one application for each SR&R campaign. Those assessed as suitable may then be considered for current or future identical vacancies across participating agencies while the merit pool remains active.
Why apply
Through SR&R, you may benefit from:
- one application for a coordinated recruitment campaign
- consideration for multiple vacancies across participating NTG agencies
- possible ongoing, fixed-period or temporary employment
- a consistent and merit-based assessment process
- communication at key stages of the recruitment process.
How the process works
- Apply
Submit your application through an advertised SR&R campaign on the NTG jobs website. - Complete the assessment process
Your application will be assessed against the requirements of the standardised role. Assessment may include application screening, interviews, referee checks or other relevant assessment activities. - Receive your outcome
You will be advised whether you have been assessed as suitable. - Be considered for matching vacancies
Suitable candidates may be contacted about current or future identical vacancies and asked to confirm their interest and availability. - Appointment
Appointments are made on merit and remain subject to the requirements and approvals of the individual vacancy.
Merit pools
A merit pool is a group of candidates who have completed the assessment process and been found suitable for the advertised role.
While the merit pool remains active, participating agencies may consider suitable candidates for identical vacancies. Successfully assessed candidates will remain in the talent pool for up to 12 months, or until they secure a position within that period.
Being included in a merit pool:
- may allow you to be considered by more than one agency
- does not require you to accept every opportunity
- is subject to your availability and preferences.
What you can expect
The Department of Corporate and Digital Development coordinates SR&R campaigns and supports candidates through the central recruitment process.
You can expect:

- updates at key stages
- respectful and professional communication
- your personal information to be handled appropriately
- the opportunity to confirm your interest in relevant vacancies.
Timeframes may vary depending on the campaign, the number of applications received and when suitable vacancies become available.
