In the Northern Territory, all major regional towns have hospitals with general inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services.

Hospitals in the NT

Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) is the Northern Territory’s main hospital and is a 360-bed public hospital that has a range of services and offers:

It houses the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre and the Alan Walker Cancer Care Centre.

Palmerston Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 116-bed public hospital. The emergency department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Alice Springs Hospital is a public hospital that serves the Central Australia region. The emergency department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Katherine Hospital is a 60-bed hospital that is a non-specialist public hospital. It services Katherine and the surrounding region and remote areas.

Katherine Hospital offers the following services:

Tennant Creek Hospital is a 20-bed public hospital that serves the Barkly region.

It assesses, diagnoses, and treats short-term illnesses and injuries.

A 16-chair renal unit also provides a dialysis service to the Barkly region.

Tennant Creek Hospital offers a variety of services.

Gove District Hospital is in Nhulunbuy and services the East Arnhem region.

It is a 30-bed acute care facility providing medical, surgical, paediatric, respite and maternity services.

Patients from 15 remote communities are referred to the hospital for inpatient, outpatient and specialist care.

A district medical officer also services the region, advising patients to be admitted, or evacuated by air, to the Royal Darwin Hospital.

Gove District Hospital is a public hospital offering services.

Darwin Private Hospital is a 122-bed hospital co-located with Royal Darwin Hospital providing services.
