Events and festivals
Local groups, charities, shows and events often need help with activities, administration, fundraising and behind-the-scenes jobs. Opportunities can be one-off, seasonal or ongoing, so there are options even if you only have a few hours to spare.
Sport and recreation
Territory sporting clubs rely on volunteers for coaching, officiating, registrations, events and the everyday jobs that keep a club running. It is a good way to meet people and become part of your local community.
Parks and the environment
If you enjoy being outdoors, you can help care for NT parks, wildlife and visitor areas. Roles vary and may include conservation work, maintaining facilities or becoming a campground host during the busier months.
Emergency services
NT Emergency Service volunteers help communities prepare for and respond to storms, floods, cyclones, searches and other emergencies. There are operational and support roles, with training provided to help you take on the work safely.

Community arts groups, galleries, festivals and cultural organisations often rely on people who can help with exhibitions, performances, workshops, events and administration. It is a good option if you enjoy creative work or want to become involved in the local arts community.

Not-for-profit organisations need all kinds of help, from working directly with people to assisting with transport, fundraising, administration or practical tasks. It can be a good way to use skills you already have while supporting something that matters to you.
Volunteering in the Territory can be as simple as helping at a local event, lending a hand at your sporting club or checking in on a neighbour.
Before joining an organisation, ask what the role involves, how much time is expected and whether training, equipment or transport is provided.
Some roles require an Ochre Card or National Police Check. Check with the organisation first, as it may need to support your application.
