Charles Darwin University offers higher education and vocational education and training (VET) courses and is ranked as the number two Australian university for postgraduate full-time employment outcomes in 2024 by the Good Universities Guide.
CDU has campuses and delivery sites from the capital cities of Darwin, Brisbane and Sydney to the regional towns of Alice Springs, Palmerston and Katherine, and remote locations in Nhulunbuy and Tennant Creek.

Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education (BIITE) provides training in both further and higher education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It has three main campuses located at the Batchelor township, which is about 98 kilometres south of Darwin, at the Desert Knowledge Precinct in Alice Springs and the Casuarina campus within Charles Darwin University.

Flinders University delivers the Northern Territory Medical Program (NTMP) which provides training to Flinders University medical students.
Flinders University also helps to coordinate placement opportunities and support for allied heath and interstate-based medical students across its sites in Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs and Nhulunbuy.
Students can also study a Bachelor of Paramedicine (NT) with intensives in Darwin and Remote Health Practice postgraduate courses with intensives in Alice Springs.
