Teach in the Territory

Teach with us and receive:

• Salary: $96,180 – $136,997 (based on experience) + 12% super + 17.5% leave loading (based on years of classroom teaching experience)
• Where applicable you’ll receive relocation and retention allowances and subsidised housing is offered in some locations.
• We’ll invest in you with professional development and growth opportunities.
• Additional allowances on top of your salary for Highly Accomplished Teachers, Lead Teachers, Special Education Teachers, Teachers in charge of preschools.
• Teachers who live and work in a remote location receive additional allowances such as:
  • Use our Remote Incentives and Benefits calculator  to see how much you may be entitled to when you teach in a remote location.
  • A fortnightly Remote Incentive Allowance to contribute to the cost of freight to remote areas.
  • An annual Retention Payment, paid in a lump sum to teachers who complete 12 months of continuous service in the remote location.
  • 100% of rent costs—including utilities—is covered.
  • 2-3 return flights to the nearest intrastate hub per year.
  • Special study leave.
  • Up to four business days are available for employees to take leave from work to access services not available in the remote community where they are living.
  • Classroom teachers are eligible for a guaranteed transfer to Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine or Alice Springs after three years of employment in a remote location.
