Whether you choose to play, coach or volunteer, sporting clubs in the Territory are a popular way to meet people and feel part of a team. We have more than 50 sporting codes and around 330 sporting venues across the Territory, some of which are world class facilities. In addition to the traditional Australian favourites, outdoor pursuits like fishing, conservation, hunting and clay target sports are also popular.

The Northern Territory Government offers children living in an urban area two $100 sports vouchers each year to participate in sport, recreation or cultural activities.

AFL is one of the most played sports in the NT, with three leagues across the Territory. From junior football to multiple women’s and men’s divisions, AFLNT is a way to compete competitively while also finding your own community in your club. Find your closest league and join your local team.

Rugby league is played across the Territory, with competitions from the Top End down to Central Australia. Get involved in NRLNT.

Darwin hosts a range of national and international sporting events including the V8 Supercars Championship races and World Solar Challenge. There’s something for everyone including the Hottest 7’s Rugby, AFL and NRL fixtures, Mitchell Street Mile and City to Surf.

Alice Springs hosts national 20/20 cricket, the Imparja cup, AFL fixtures, the Masters Games, the Finke Desert Race and the Alice Springs Golf Club is rate in the top 10 desert golf courses world-wide.
