When moving to the Northern Territory, it might help to create a moving plan. Your plan should include getting quotes, making an inventory of items to be relocated and insurance.
In Australia, we have the Australian Furniture Removals Association (AFRA). AFRA is the peak body in the removal industry.
Explore the AFRA website to see which companies operate in your area.
You can also read their guide PDF (191.9 KB), which has practical advice about planning your move.
Things to be aware of
- Make sure you insure your items correctly. Read over the insurance policy and make sure it covers your goods.
- Make an inventory of goods that are being moved, including the number of boxes and contents.
- Some backloading companies can be cheaper, but there's no guarantee you will receive goods immediately. Your goods might be stored for some time before they can be delivered to their final destination.
