The Department of Tourism and Hospitality works with industry on leveraging the Territory’s unique environment and competitive advantages to stake our claim as a destination of positive difference.

The department also has lead responsibility for racing, gaming and licensing in addition to NT major events.

The formation of the new department was designed with clear objectives in mind:

  • aligning public sector structures with government’s top priorities
  • building a stronger, more specialised public service with technical expertise in smaller departments
  • empowering quicker and informed decisions, made closer to the ground, with structures that enable the public service to be agile and responsive.
