Caramon Khaisir is a Youth Justice Officer based in Darwin, where he supports the safety, care and wellbeing of young people in detention.
For Caramon, the most meaningful part of the role is building strong relationships with young people and being a consistent, positive influence in their lives.

Youth Justice Officers support young people through their daily routines, education and programs while encouraging them to make positive choices for their future. They also work closely as a team to respond to challenging situations and maintain a safe and supportive environment.
Caramon finds it particularly rewarding to hear about the milestones young people achieve later in life.
“Hearing stories about our youth getting jobs, licences and certificates later on is rewarding.”
While the work can be challenging, it gives Caramon the opportunity to make a genuine difference as part of a supportive team.
Outside work, Caramon enjoys spending time outdoors and embracing Darwin’s relaxed lifestyle. For him, living and working in the Northern Territory provides the balance between meaningful work and making the most of life beyond it.
