Weeknight activities in Darwin
Fill your weekdays with fun activities and a great work life balance living in Darwin.
It is easy to get caught up in the rat race and a mundane routine during the week when living down south. The dark mornings, long commute and chilly weather makes it hard to find the motivation to leave the house for anything really. Up in the Territory, life couldn’t be more different. From run club on Tuesday morning to free wine tastings on Thursday, you will find yourself filling your weekdays with fun activities living in Darwin.
Monday
It is pretty hard to go past cheap margaritas and tacos. Especially served by the new favourite venue in town – Sweethearts. Live music to soothe your Monday blues and $15 margaritas is a perfect way to start the week. For the slower Mondays, a $20 burger at the Beachfront Hotel may be all you need to fuel your week.
Tuesday
Make your way to Shenannigan’s on a Tuesday for the chance to win some prize money in trivia and enjoy a rump deal or give Run Club Darwin a go and head down to Nightcliff Beach at 5.45pm for a sunset jog with other keen runners.
Wednesday
Hump day in Darwin brings a range of activities to try out. Start your morning fresh with Darwin Dippers at 6.30am at the beach and then for a coffee. If early mornings aren’t your thing, test out your music knowledge at Flick’s for Music Bingo at 7pm and enjoy the cheap pizza and spritzes.
Thursday
As the weekend approaches, treat yourself to a free wine tasting in the beautiful Stone House Wine Bar in the city. Thursdays in the dry also mean the Mindil Beach Markets are on. Grab a bite to eat or browse the stalls before watching the sunset over the beach.
Friday
When the weekend arrives in the dry season, so do the food trucks. From Cullen Bay to Nightcliff, you can find a place to park yourself for the sunset and enjoy dinner from one of the many food trucks in Darwin. Oyster Bar at the Waterfront Precinct offers a whole discounted menu, plus happy hour drinks, from 5pm to 7pm, making it the perfect knock off spot and great way to start the weekend.
