Looking for an agent

Homeowner incentives
Support is available for those who would like to build or buy in the Territory. You may be eligible to receive financial assistance.
First-home buyers can get up to $50,000 to put towards buying or building their first home. The grant can also be used for a new transportable home if it is permanently fixed and legally approved to be lived in.
The grant is available for owner-builders and off-the-plan purchases, with no cap on the build or purchase price.

The HomeGrown Territory Grant extends the First Home Owner Grant. First-home buyers can receive $10,000 to put towards the purchase of an established home with no cap on purchase price.
Established homes can include:
- houses
- townhouses
- apartments

With the FreshStart New Home Grant existing homeowners can receive $30,000 to put towards buying or building a new home, or a new transportable home, as long as it’s permanently fixed and legally approved to live in.
There is no cap on the build or purchase price, and the grant is available to:
- applicants who are not first-home buyers
- owner-builders and off-the-plan purchases

Rental support
If you’re looking for a rental and work in a key service industry in the Territory, you may be able to access support through the rental subsidy scheme as part of a Northern Territory Government initiative. This includes the:
Under this scheme, the NT Government leases private properties for eligible tenants to sub-lease at 70% of market rates.
They're managed by contracted property managers and are available in:
- Darwin
- Palmerston
- Coolalinga
- Tennant Creek
- Alice Springs
Who can apply
You must have at least one adult member of the household employed in a key service industry to apply for the scheme.

This scheme offers private rental subsidies to eligible key workers in:
- Darwin
- Palmerston
- Katherine
- Tennant Creek
- Alice Springs
Subsidies contribute to the total rent payment and are paid to the real estate agent by the NT Government. The subsidies are capped at $6,000 over a 6-month period.
Who can apply
To be eligible you must be a key worker under the income limit and residing in one of the above locations.

Apply for public housing
If you are on a low income, you can apply for public housing in the Territory. Public housing is units and houses owned and managed by the government. The rent is usually less than you would pay in the private sector.
To apply you will need to meet conditions relating to age, income and residency. Contact your local housing office for information on the types of public housing available in your area.
