The NT's vibrant environment, with its stunning landscapes and rich cultural diversity, offers countless opportunities for exploration and growth.

The NT is the perfect place for me to continue growing and making a difference.

Hajrah Kamran is a high-achiever and go-getter, but it’s her drive to give back that really defines her. Youth empowerment, mental health awareness, and multicultural inclusivity fuel her work and leadership. Since moving to Darwin from Pakistan in 2012, Hajrah has become a key figure in the local Darwin community, shaped by the rich diversity and opportunities the NT offers.

Hajrah has simultaneously completed a Bachelor of Islamic Studies from Charles Sturt University and a Diploma of Mental Health from Star Colleges Australia and is now in her final year of Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science Honours at Charles Darwin University.

“Studying at CDU has provided me with a strong educational foundation in Medical Laboratory Science, while my involvement in various community projects and leadership roles has enriched my learning beyond the classroom. The NT offers a unique blend of academic opportunities and real-world experiences, allowing me to develop both technical skills and a passion for giving back to the community.”

If you are considering study in the Northern Territory Hajrah’s advice is clear:

“I would advise you to fully take advantage of the resources and opportunities available at CDU. Embrace the unique learning environment, and don't hesitate to seek out extracurricular opportunities that align with your interests. The experience will be transformative, both academically and personally.”

Hajrah’s commitment to community services began from a young age and has grown into a lifelong passion.

“I am deeply involved in various volunteer and leadership roles. I serve as Youth Coordinator for the United Muslims of Northern Territory (UMNT), where I help organize events and activities that bring young people together. I also hold leadership positions, including Vice-Chair at TWO TWO ONE Mental Health Charity and NT Representative at the Alliance of Australian Muslims.

The NT has given me so much, and volunteering allows me to contribute to its growth and support others, while also building strong connections within this diverse and vibrant community.”
